News Update

A BIG Thank you for all who have taken the time to come to one of our shows or dances!

We are really staying busy! Every time I turn around I am WAY behind on my updates! Well, much has happened...

We have signed a contract with the BBC in the UK to include our original song "Mississippi Mud Dog" on one of their TV programs. We are excited about this contract. We don't know where it might take us....... I wonder if Studebakers can swim across the Atlantic.....

Old Blue our famous ( or more likely infamous) 1952 Studebaker is off the road for a while. We are giving it a much needed brake job and a little cosmetic overhaul. It has over 500,000 miles on it, so it has earned the small dose of TLC.
We have 3 other Studes to take up the slack though, so never fear, the Calhouns will still roll with Studebakers!

Farm and Ranch news...... As many of you know, I am an old ranch kid. This next year I will be managing the old home place. I may do quite a bit of the harvesting. I never sold my machinery, so I am busy taking it out of mothballs and getting it 100% field ready.

Summer Shows...... We have several big gigs this summer. More details as I get them. I know we are going to Wisconsin, Montana, Wyoming, Iowa and Missouri thus far.

In Tribute...... We lost a good friend and fellow musician, Ray Custer from Wichita. Ray was one of a kind, and a descendent of General George Armstrong Custer. Ray was a pioneer in Big Band music and had his own bands in the 1930's. Ray was one of the first band leaders of an inter racial band. He being white, his players black. Ray was quite the dresser and he always dressed up in his cool 30's era "Zoot suit king of swing" clothes. Ray believed in Chris and I, and for that we are eternally grateful. We will miss you friend!

New Albums..... We just released "Christmas Out of the Bag". A great collection of 14 Christmas songs. 12 Traditional songs and 2 original tunes.. They are available at our shows or you can order online.

Recording .... We are celebrating our 25th anniversary, so to commemorate we are recording an all original album called "Silver". It will be out soon, keep watching the products page on this site.

We have a great year lined up as we will be averaging 4 performances per week. We will be all over Kansas, and Oklahoma, Texas, Montana, Wyoming, Iowa and Nebraska! What is neat is we see allot of the same faces everywhere we go! Thanks! It is great to see friends from Stillwater, Oklahoma and Dodge City and Salina, Kansas all at one of our performances in Wichita! Some of you folks are on the road as much as we are!

We realize that many of you have been to see us perform many times this year. And considering that admission of $5.00 to $10.00 is charged, depending on the venue, a rather large number of folks have spent $10.00 to $50.00 a month, for several months, in admission to see us! This does not include your transportation etc....... This is truly humbling to us......... We can't thank our loyal fans enough!

Check our schedule to see if we will be near you!

The Calhouns in Branson Pictures & Information!

We are going all out to expand our market. We are learning lots of new material and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. It is hard to stay "cutting edge" in the music business at this point in time. There is definitely no industry trend, only a myriad of "mini trends" that we feel do not have any staying power. So, our list of songs that we are learning are all across the board! We are also adding many more original songs to our playlist also.
