HARMONY MANDOLINS, TIPLES & UKULELES
Harmony produced many different varieties of instruments in numerous styles and models. Nowhere is this more true than its line of mandolins, tiples and ukuleles. Presented on this page is but a mere fraction of the different models of these instruments. Harmony ran the full gambit, from incredibly cheap and cheesy to indescribably cool in their line of stringed instruments.
Lets start with the cool ones!
A great photo of a prewar headstock!
Wouldn't you like to have one of these "hangin' around" in your collection!
I am not sure of this model. Special thanks to the owner of this and the below 2 instruments for the pictures! You can reach him at elyete@aol.com
Another great headstock of a prewar mandolin.
The above headstock and the two following pictures are of a great Harmony model. I believe it is a model 802 commonly called a "Viol".
Other higher quality models of the 20's and 30's included a No. 354 "Arched", No. 325 "Roy Smeck", No. 365 "Valencia" and No. 375 "Patrician"
Note the style that this instrument has!
What a fine specimen this mandolin is!
Even though the picture is a bit blurry, you can see the quality jump out at you from this fine instrument.
This Mandolin is definitely styled like a Kay
Late 1960's Harmony Mandolin
Fine "Late Model" Harmony Marquis Mandolin
Thought maybe you might want some pictures
for your Harmony Mandolin page. I have been playing this jewel for better
then 20 years and am the origional owner. It is an A body with F holes,
and I believe probably Import since I got it in 1982 or 83.
Anyway, I loved your sight and appreciate
the hard work you put in it. Take it easy,
Brian K. Richardson

The above model is an import, but a good one that has stood up well providing years of reliable service to its owner! Thanks for the pictures Brian!
Harmony Tiples
According to the words direct from Harmony, and I quote......
"To the player who is not familiar with the Tiple, the strength and sweetness of its tone will be a revelation"
"Played with ukulele technique, its melody has all the charm of a guitar."
"There are 10 strings, arranged in 4 sets, tuned much like a ukulele, but in unisons and octaves."
"Any proficient ukulele player can readily master the playing of the tiple."
What's a Tiple?
This is a Tiple!
This is the back side of a Tiple!
Bridge to Captain Kirk.......Well you get the idea!
Tiples look real fun, and a bit challenging to play. They were constructed of hardwoods and were trimmed with celluloid. They came in an entry level model 833, a better model with spruce top, model 824, and a super deluxe model with real mother of pearl inlay, spruce top and neat, inlaid ring at the sound hole, inlaid back stripe, rosewood fingerboard, genuine bone nut and saddle, rosewood bridge and tortoise pickguard. Just about everything you ask for in a super fancy tiple! Did I mention its 1934 price?........$16.50
Ukuleles
Harmony really had fun making their ukes, this is evident by the myriad of sizes and designs painted on them! Some were Plain Janes, others looked like Piccaso got hold of them!
Nice Green "Palm" Ukulele probably 50's vintage
Typical Soprano Uke By Harmony, very inexpensive when new, still a great flea market buy.
