HARMONY
1980'S To The Present

As we find ourselves entering a new century, MBT International, a company based in So. Carolina has resurrected the great Harmony name. Not only that, they embrace the entire history of the Harmony legacy! They are re-issuing several of the original designs and are bringing back some of the old headstock logos.

They are also going much further by producing a full line of drum and percussion instruments as well as amplifiers, P.A. gear and school band instruments, all under the Harmony name!

So, the great Harmony tradition of value and great instruments is indeed alive and well!

A message to those who might want to know why I am including imported instruments on this site

1. There are ALLOT of satisfied imported Harmony owners out there, and they love this site and want to contribute.

2. It will help educate potential buyers as to who made what, where and when.

3. Most imported Harmony guitars suffer the same stigma that the U.S.A. Harmony instruments have endured through the years. I feel that with both makes of Harmony, the bad rap is undeserved. I do not wish to join the "guitar snobs" in looking down my nose at any guitar. I love the guitar, I love music and I make my living as a guitarist. I have never picked up a guitar that I could not make some music on.

4. Harmony instruments are seen in almost every country in the world. And following basic reason, ALL Harmony guitars not in their country of origin are imports! A Chicago made Harmony is an import even in Canada!

I feel that as a group together, we can share ideas and generally, just jam!

Guitar Search...... Have you seen this guitar?

1981 Harmony Les Paul copy, burgundy in color with white binding. It has had 2 DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucker pickups installed. These pickups may have been removed, and if so, there will be two coil tap switches or empty switch holes if the switches have been removed. This guitar was customized and its ex-owner would like to get it back. If you have this guitar, or have any information email to patm@mail.esi.net

Marquis By Harmony

Real nice Martin copy

These guitars show a high level of quality throughout!

Harmony "Flying V"

This is one of the most popular Oriental Harmony guitars. It is a direct copy of the Gibson original. As copies go, this is a fairly good one, but it does not match the quality of the Gibson, in workmanship, material or electronics.

It does do one important thing that the Gibson Flying V doesn't do, it gives you the opportunity to own this design at bargain basement prices!

This is your basic "entry level" import of the early 1980's

It has nothing in common with most American designs as far as body style

You may be justified with comparing this model with the lowest level Silhouette and Stratotone models

These are great beginner models that can be picked up cheap at pawn shops

Note that this original case seems to be built for a "Jazzmaster" style guitar, it may house a Silhouette, someone out there should find out!

1990'S Harmony Stratocaster Copy

Actually, these are good guitars when properly set up. They can be upgraded with the best electronics you can find because of the large amount of high quality Stratocaster upgrade parts available.

Standard 3 Single Coil Pickup Design

What a color! It looks like the same color as grandmas old soap dish!

Yes it is, and a darn good one at that! The new Harmony company is great guns to be a major player in the guitar business. They are re issuing several great old Harmony and Stella designs! Above is a Rocket III.
