The Artist Jazz and Espanada guitars came
in a grand auditorium size and when set up properly, make great gigging
axes! They can almost be considered higher grade "Deep Dish Meteors" as
far as electronics are concerned, it is designed very close to its little
brother! It is also electronically similar to the H74 model.
It has been pointed out to me though, that unlike other Harmony electrics, The Artists Jazz has a set neck, not a bolt on. This definitely helps with both tone and sustain. This model represents one of Harmony's finest!

Fantastic shot of the adjustable bridge. It may be a Hagstrom design.
The bridge uses the same saddles as some of
the better Silhouette and Bobcat models. If your guitar is in need of new
saddles or if you are missing one or more, your best bet is to take a sample
to a good metal machine shop.
Any good machinist can make these for you.
It will cost you some and they will not be chrome, but it will get you
up and running.
The H68 is a fancy guitar. Note the ornate
pickups and stylish f holes.
The guitar in the picture above is somewhat different than some of those below. It seems to be an upgraded model with fancier trim. Any way you slice it, this is one beautiful guitar!
A proud owner and his guitar! Thanks for the pictures!

This is a Model H68, better known as an
"Artists Jazz"
These guitars really "gel" on stage for a great all around guitar. It is a real workhorse and is at home in almost any situation, from Rockabilly, to Country, Rock & Roll and of course................Jazz
Nice shot of the deep body style.

Nice block inlay!

Thanks for the great pictures!
Technical Tip
When giving your guitar a "tune up", set the adjustment on the pole pieces (set screws) in the pickups. Lengthen each one, one at a time and test while you go. Turn your amp up to a reasonable volume and twang the string as hard as you can without breaking the string. Adjust out...twang.....adjust out .....twang. Keep this up until the pickup overloads and "craps out". When you accomplish this screw in a little bit......twang.....screw in.....twang.....until it sounds good and loud without "crapping out". In this way you find the most efficient signal strength adjustment. Do this on the same string on a different pickup. Get each pickup to have roughly the same volume. Go onto next string and.........Twang!
Espanada
Model H63
Very Rare and Sought After!
This is an Espanada Owned By Arthur Thomson of Perryvale Alberta,
The serial number is 3072H63 and was made in 1957. Arthur is the original owner having bought it in 1958.
It sports an aluminum binding! Check out the non bolt on joined neck.
The Espanada is sort of the "Holy Grail" of
Harmony guitars. They are very rare, and sell for up to double what other
desirable models sell for. They are unique for the aluminum binding.
These models were made in the mid to late
1950's and early 60's. For the serious guitar collector, this is the one
electric model you must have as your ultimate Harmony showpiece.
